Golden Spike

May 10, 1869 the Union and Central Pacific Railroads joined their rails at Promontory Summit. Golden Spike National Historic Site commemorates this incredible accomplishment of this nation's first transcontinental railroad.

  1. What an awesome place to visit. We keep forgetting to head up there on May 10th, when they do a reanactment of the big day. Looks like the weather was favorable....yay! :)

  2. It was a nice day, rained when we got home. they do reenactments every Saturday through the summer.
