Campground Review - ThemeWorld RV Resort

We stayed for just over a week at ThemeWorld RV Resort in Davenport, Florida, fairly close to Orlando and Kissimmee.

Staff - 8 - We spoke to two different staffer who were helpful and courteous.

Nearby attractions - 9 - About 10-15 minutes to Disney and other attractions. Can't believe how close it is, just right up I4!

Natural surroundings - 6 - A small sampling of trees in the park, with trees surrounding a portion of the park. Sits overlooking interstate 4.

Value - 10 - We paid $22 a night for a back-in gravel site with full hook-ups. Great price for being so close to WDW!

Bathrooms - 7 - Pretty clean, but water in showers varied from very hot to freezing for no apparent reason.

Roominess - 7 - Average sized, but big enough.

Facility fun - 8 - Playground, horse shoe pits, shuffleboard, basketball half-court, heated pool, some planned activities.

Cleanliness - 8 - Pretty clean park. Long term residents have nice and clean sites.

Facility usefulness - 8 -  Laundry, wifi (weak), exchange library, Sunday church services, mail service.

Overall - 9 - Nice option for RVers looking for a decent and affordable option near Disney World.

Campground review - Thousand Trails Preserve in Clermont

Our stay at the Thousand Trails Preserve in Clermont, Florida was punctuated by some great animal finds and photography. We had first time sitings of the gopher tortoise and white ibis as well as some great  shots of some sandhill cranes who were walking throughout the park. Credit Patsy with the photos of the cranes and ibis and Blake with the tortoise.

The gopher tortoise had dug his hole not far from Howard's front door and we were warned not to bug him or there would be a stiff penalty of $500! We still could watch him from inside our rig and Blake got some good photos. I know it is the silly stuff that gets our family excited!

We did enjoy this park's amenities too. We also took part in the Full-time Families Rally for a day with a potluck and some children's activities!

Staff - 6 - You know for being a resort I expected super nice staff, but for the most part they seemed bored to be there. Not rude, just not going to go the extra mile for you.

Nearby attractions - 9 - About 20 minutes to Disney and other attractions.

Natural surroundings - 8 - Several ponds and marshy land. Forested area surrounds part of the park.

Value - 8 - We paid $33 a night for a back-in black-top site with full hook-ups. This was the non-member rate, probably special for the rally.

Bathrooms - 8 - Decent bathrooms. There are several bathhouse buildings throughout the park.

Roominess - 8 - Average sized sites, although the tortoise did make our site a bit smaller!

Facility fun - 10 - Small playground, two pools (family and adult), hot-tub, mini-putts, fishing ponds, lake access, shuffleboard, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, planned activitIes.

Cleanliness - 8 - A nicely kept up park.

Facility usefulness - 9 -  Laundry, propane, mail service, exchange library, a.

Overall - 8 - Nice place with lots of extras!

Campground Review - Ponderosa RV Park

We stayed for a total of three nights, in and out, at Ponderosa RV Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Our favorite part was feeding the geese and Florida Soft Shell Turtles (first time spotting this species!).

Staff - 8 - Staff we spoke with was very helpful.

Nearby attractions - 9 - About 30-40 minutes to Disney, further to other Orlando attractions.

Natural surroundings - 7 - Little fenced in pond, several trees. Close to toll road.

Value - 8 - We paid $33 a night for a pull-through grass site with full hook-ups. This is pretty good for the Orlando area.

Bathrooms - 9 - Nice bathrooms, plenty big, clean and modern. There are several bathhouse buildings throughout the park.

Roominess - 7 - Average sized sites.

Facility fun - 7 - Very small playground, pool, horseshoe pits.

Cleanliness - 7 - Some long term residents, basically a clean park.

Facility usefulness - 7 -  Laundry, propane, wifi extra.

Overall - 7 - Clean and cheap place to stay near WDW with a pool! Loved the turtles!
